Solano New Capital Egypt is a planned city located in the desert east of Cairo, Egypt. The city is expected to be the flagship of Egypt's new capital development plan and is expected to serve as a new centre for business, finance, culture, and tourism. The project is led by the Egyptian government and is set to be the largest urban development project in the region, with an estimated total investment of $45 billion.
The project was initially proposed in 2015 and is expected to span over 700 square kilometres. Infrastructure will include two airports, a new ring-road network, a railway network, and a 20-kilometre artificial canal connecting the Nile to the Mediterranean.
