Sky Bridge New Capital Egypt is a planned megacity in Egypt that is intended to serve as a new administrative capital for the country. Located about 45 kilometers east of Cairo, the new capital is being built on an area of 180 square kilometers and will have its own economic, social, medical and educational infrastructures.
The city is expected to be completed by 2022 and will feature offices of Egypt’s ministries, government departments, and foreign embassies. It will also be home to six different district centers, all connected by a 20-kilometer long skybridge. This skybridge will host offices and luxury apartment buildings, and will be connected to the main airport and a large theme park.
The new capital is planned to attract more than five million people who will live and work within its walls. The city will be built with modern technology and infrastructure to create an efficient public transportation system, and efficient energy and water supply. Additionally, the city will also include recreation areas, shopping malls, and entertainment centers.
The project is being funded by a $45bn loan from Abu Dhabi, and has been projected to contribute around 11% of the country’s GDP in a few years. The project is part of
