The River New Zayed in Egypt is a river located in the west of the country. It is a popular destination for exploring ancient ruins, breathtaking landscapes and a wide variety of wildlife. The river flows from Wadi El-Arish in northern Sinai and flows southwest through the desert to the Mediterranean Sea near the city of El Alamein.
Its banks are lined with palm trees and small villages, with interesting sites and attractions spanning its entire course. Along the way, visitors can explore the remains of an ancient Roman fort and view unique species of birds and other wildlife. Other attractions include the Temple of Horus, a well preserved limestone temple, two pyramids by the river's entrance, and the ruins of an old Ottoman fort.
The River New Zayed also provides a great opportunity for anglers, as it is home to a wide variety of fish species. Local residents often use traditional fishing methods, such as nets, buckets and reeds.
The water of the New Zayed is suitable for swimming, although strong currents make it dangerous during certain times of the year. For the more adventurous, boat tours provide a great way to explore the remote areas of the river.
