The Nyoum Pyramids, located in 6 October City, Egypt, are a unique example of compound pyramids. These pyramids were built during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu, who was the founder of the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt.

The Nyoum Pyramids consist of three main pyramids, each with its own satellite pyramid. The largest pyramid, known as the Red Pyramid, is the third largest pyramid in Egypt, after the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Pyramid of Khafre. The Red Pyramid is named after the reddish hue of its limestone blocks.

The second pyramid, known as the Bent Pyramid, is unique in that it has two different angles of inclination. The lower part of the pyramid has a steep angle of 54 degrees, while the upper part has a shallower angle of 43 degrees. This change in angle was likely due to structural issues during construction.

The third pyramid, known as the Black Pyramid, is the smallest of the three and is believed to have been built for Sneferu's daughter, Princess Hetepheres. The Black Pyramid is unique in that it has a rectangular base, rather than a square base like the other two pyramids.
