The Nyoum Pyramids, located in the ADH 6 October area of Egypt, are a unique example of compound pyramids. These structures, built during the Old Kingdom period, consist of a main pyramid surrounded by smaller satellite pyramids.

The main pyramid at Nyoum is believed to have been built for Pharaoh Sneferu, who ruled during the 4th dynasty. It is estimated to have stood at a height of around 100 meters, making it one of the largest pyramids in Egypt. The satellite pyramids, which were likely built for members of the royal family, are arranged in a circular pattern around the main pyramid.

One of the most interesting features of the Nyoum Pyramids is the use of a double-layered casing. The outer layer was made of fine white limestone, while the inner layer was made of a coarser limestone. This technique was used to create a smooth surface on the outside of the pyramid, while also providing additional structural support.
