Nyoum Mostakbal is a planned urban development located just 20 kilometers east of Cairo, in the 6th of October governorate. It was first announced in 2014, with construction beginning in 2015. The city is expected to span 8 million square meters and will be designed to accommodate as many as one million people when it is completed. The entire project is set to cost 40 billion EGP (approximately 2.3 billion USD).

The city is intended to be a model of modern urban design and sustainability, and will incorporate smart city technology in order to provide its residents with access to resources such as clean energy, public transportation, and educational opportunities. Additionally, the city will feature expansive green spaces, and a grand market square that will be the center of cultural activities.

The project is a joint venture between the Egyptian government and private investors, and is intended to help reduce overcrowding in Cairo and provide new job opportunities for the region’s inhabitants. The city is also meant to be a hub for technological innovation, and has attracted attention from tech giants such as Google and Microsoft, who have expressed interest in investing in the project.

Nyoum Mostakbal is set to be finished by 2021, and is expected to become a major milestone for modern urban planning in the Middle East.
