New Maadi is a suburb located in the southern part of Cairo, Egypt. Situated on the east bank of the Nile River, it is one of Cairo's most affluent neighborhoods and home to many embassies, villas, and international schools.

The area was a desert until 1900, when Italian engineers developed agricultural irrigation systems to cultivate the lands around the Nile River. Soon after, British soldiers built Victoria College in New Maadi, which became the first British school in Cairo.
