Egyptian authorities are set to open a new desert road connecting Cairo, Alexandria and Giza. The new road, known as the "Compound New Giza Cairo Alexandria Desert Road", is designed to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety and accessibility for motorists travelling between the three cities.
The new road is part of a larger infrastructure project, which is being overseen by the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Local Development. The project includes the construction of bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure needed to facilitate the flow of traffic in the area.
The new road is expected to reduce travel time between the three cities by up to 40%. It will also provide a more direct route between the three cities, and will be a major boon to the tourism sector.
The project is set to be completed by 2021 and will cost an estimated $2.2 billion. The project is expected to create thousands of new jobs and spur economic development in the area.
