La Verde is a New Capital city in Egypt that is being developed by the country's Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities (MHUUC). The city is being designed as part of the government's plan to build a number of modern cities alongside the Nile in an effort to spur economic growth, attract foreign investment and spur population growth. La Verde has been hailed as a major achievement and a sign of Egypt's current economic success.
The city is located on a 7,000 acre plot of land close to New Cairo and will be home to an estimated 1.2 million residents. La Verde’s master plan was designed by award-winning architects Khatib & Alami, who have also worked with other countries including Jordan, Algeria, Kuwait and Germany. The overall design of La Verde is intended to be both socially and environmentally sustainable, providing affordable housing and access to employment opportunities for its citizens.
La Verde features a variety of eco-friendly features, from rainwater harvesting and solar power to electric buses and a community-wide recycling system. The city also boasts a wide range of retail, leisure and cultural facilities - including a shopping mall, sports stadium, concert hall and opera house. It even has its own airport, which is expected to help facilitate business and tourism to the region.
By transforming barren desert land into a bustling urban centre, La Verde is set to become one of the jewels of the Nile Valley. With its eco-friendly infrastructure, world-class amenities and desirable location, this ambitious venture is sure to provide a wealth of economic and social benefits to the people of Egypt.
