Jedar is an ancient archaeological site located in Egypt's Western Desert. The site is located in the region of the ancient Egyptian city of Abydos, and dates back to the Early Dynastic Period (c. 3000-2600 BCE).

Jedar was first discovered in the late 19th century by British archaeologist Flinders Petrie, who excavated the site in 1891. It is believed that Jedar was a fortified settlement, and it is known to have been occupied by the ancient Egyptians during the reign of King Khasekhemwy of the Second Dynasty (c. 2686-2613 BCE).

Jedar is best known for its impressive mud-brick walls, which were built to protect the settlement from attack. The walls are made up of large rectangular blocks of mud-brick, and are estimated to have been over 3 meters in height. The walls also feature several gateways, which allowed access to the settlement.

Inside the walls, archaeologists have discovered several buildings, including a temple and a granary. Various artifacts have also been found at the site, including pottery, stone tools, and jewelry. These artifacts provide valuable insight into the lives of the people who once lived at Jedar.

Jedar is an important archaeological site, as it provides evidence of the early stages of Egyptian civilization. It is also a reminder of the ancient Egyptian practice of fortifying settlements, which was a common practice in the region during this period.
