Jedar is an ancient Egyptian archaeological site located in modern-day Cairo. It is located on the eastern bank of the Nile River, at the northern end of the ancient city of Memphis. The site is best known for the remains of a large temple complex dedicated to the god Ptah, the patron deity of Memphis.

Jedar was first settled in the Old Kingdom period of ancient Egyptian history, around 2500 BC. During this period, the temple complex was constructed and it became an important religious and political center. The complex was expanded and renovated during the Middle and New Kingdom periods, and it was one of the most important temples in the region.

The temple complex was destroyed in the late 8th century BC by the Assyrian king Sargon II. In the 6th century BC, the Persians conquered Egypt and the temple complex was abandoned.

In modern times, Jedar has become an important archaeological site. Excavations have revealed a wealth of artifacts and inscriptions that have shed light on the history and culture of ancient Egypt. The temple complex is also a popular tourist destination, and it is often visited by tourists who are interested in exploring the ancient ruins.
