Jedar, also known as Jedar of the Sands, is a mysterious figure who appears in the ancient Middle Eastern epic poem The Epic of Gilgamesh. He is described as a giant, four-armed warrior with a lion's head, and is said to have been born from the union of the gods Anu and Aruru.

Jedar is first encountered by Gilgamesh in the desert, where he has been sent to find the secret of eternal life. Gilgamesh is initially terrified of Jedar, but eventually comes to respect him and even seek his advice. Jedar tells Gilgamesh that the only way to achieve immortality is to be granted it by the gods. He also advises Gilgamesh to keep his ambitions in check and to be humble.

Jedar is a mysterious figure, and his true identity and purpose remain a mystery. He may have been a guardian of the gods, or a messenger from the gods. He may even have been an avatar of a god himself. Whatever his true identity, he serves as a powerful symbol of wisdom and humility in the Epic of Gilgamesh.
