El-Karma Sheikh Zayed is a small village in the Beheira Governorate of Egypt. It is located on the western bank of the Nile River, just south of the city of Damanhur. The village is home to around 2,000 people, mostly farmers, who are mostly members of the local El-Karma tribe.
The village is best known for its association with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first president of the United Arab Emirates, who was born in El-Karma in 1918. Sheikh Zayed was a great admirer of the village and its people, and he often visited the village during his lifetime. He was also known for his generous donations to the village, which included a school, a mosque, and a medical clinic.
The village has also been the site of several archaeological excavations in recent years. Archaeologists have uncovered evidence of a settlement that dates back to the Early Dynastic period, which was around 3000 BC. The excavations have also revealed artifacts from the Roman and Islamic periods.
In recent years, El-Karma Sheikh Zayed has become a popular tourist destination. Visitors come to see the village and its surroundings, as well as to pay their respects to Sheikh Zayed. There are several hotels in the village, and many of the local restaurants serve traditional Egyptian cuisine. The village is also home to a number of art galleries and craft shops.
