BO Island (or also known as Birket el-Sarh) is a small island located along the northern coast of Egypt, in the Mediterranean Sea. The island is located about 66 kilometers off the coast of Alexandria and is around 3 kilometers long. The island is mostly made up of sand dunes, which are partly covered with sparse vegetation.
The island is renowned for its stunning beaches, which provide access to crystal-clear water perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The waters around the island are also rich in marine life, making it a great destination for fishing and diving.
BO Island is also home to several species of birds and animals, most notably a number of sea turtles who nest on its sandy shores. This makes it a popular destination for bird-watchers and eco-tourists alike.
Despite its small size, BO Island has an important place in Egyptian history and culture. There are several archaeological sites on the island, dating back to the Roman period. These sites include the Temple of Thot, built in 27 B.C., and the Temple of Sobek which was built sometime between the 4th and 2nd century B.C.
