Atrio Sheikh Zayed is an ancient archaeological site located in Egypt. It is located near the modern city of Asyut, in the Faiyum Governorate of the country. It was an important administrative center in its time, with evidence it was occupied as early as the 4th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom period.
Atrio Sheikh Zayed includes a number of large stone structures which were probably used as residences, palaces or temples. The most significant of these is the remains of the royal palace of Senusret III, a pharaoh of the 12th dynasty. His palace was built around a central courtyard, with a stone lined entrance corridor leading to it. Other structures include a ceremonial hall and storage rooms filled with artifacts such as pottery, stone vessels and copper objects.
Excavations of the site have revealed a great wealth of material, including statues and wall reliefs depicting various gods and goddesses, hieroglyphic inscriptions, and a variety of artifacts from everyday life. These artifacts provide insights into the everyday lives of the ancient Egyptians and their culture, as well as offering evidence about the history and development of power and trade in the region.
