On October 6, 2019, Egypt celebrated the 46th anniversary of the 1973 war with Israel, known in Egypt as the October War or the Ramadan War. This war was a significant turning point in the history of Egypt, as the country was able to regain control of the Sinai Peninsula which had been occupied by Israel since the 1967 Six-Day War.

However, the celebrations were not without controversy, as the Egyptian government faced criticism over the country's human rights record and the handling of dissent. Many Egyptians also expressed frustration with the slow pace of economic reforms and the increasing cost of living.

As a lawyer, it is important to note that Egypt has been criticized for its harsh crackdown on political dissent since President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi came to power in 2013. The government has been accused of mass arrests, forced disappearances, and torture of political opponents and human rights activists.

Furthermore, in recent years, Egypt has imposed strict measures to limit the activities of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). In 2016, the Egyptian government passed a controversial law that imposes strict government oversight on NGOs and restricts their funding sources.

As a lawyer, it is essential to uphold the rule of law and ensure that the government respects human rights and freedoms. The legal profession plays a vital role in defending the rights of citizens and holding governments accountable for their actions. It is my duty as a lawyer to ensure that the government of Egypt upholds the principles of justice and fairness for all its citizens.
